Dr. Mark D. Epstein holds dual Board-certifications in both plastic surgery and general surgery. He was also awarded a certificate of added qualification in hand surgery. He holds memberships in both the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. His career is based on a two-pronged approach, focused on innovating the field of plastic surgery and aesthetics, while also working to elevate his standards of care in his own practice. When he's not participating in research and development, he's either in his office working with patients or presenting at national and international conferences, lecturing on breast surgery.

Dr. Epstein has made notable advances in the field of cosmetics and aesthetics. He's an inventor, responsible for creating the Epstein Breast Retractors, which help facilitate atraumatic breast augmentation. It's why he's one of the few surgeons capable of offering his patients a one-day recovery breast augmentation. He's also the inventor of the Epstein Abdominoplasty Retractors, Epstein Carpal Tunnel Knife Guide, and the Epstein-Deaver Breast Retractors. In addition to his own tools, he offers the innovative  Vectra 3D, an imaging simulator that gives patients further insight into how they might look after their procedure was performed. He has a next-level approach to care. He thinks out of the box to help solve the major problems in his field.

Dr. Mark Epstein’s Journey

Dr. Epstein has had a long academic career, during which he has been recognized multiple times for his intelligence and skill. He obtained his medical degree from the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn in 1984. His internship and first residency took place at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he was given the honor of being appointed to act as Chief Resident in his program. He was again chosen to act as Chief Resident when he completed a second residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center.

Dr. Epstein has studied under the best in his field, both nationally and internationally. After years of research and hard work, he was awarded a Reconstructive Microsurgery Fellowship at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, located in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. He went on to complete a second fellowship at the Raymond Curtis Hand Center, located in Baltimore, Maryland. After that, he relocated to Harvard to take part in an Ivy League Fellowship at the Brigham and Women’s/Children’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. His final fellowship was at the Shriners Burns Institute in Cincinnati. He's grateful for the training that he has earned, and he's put it to good use, helping to create new techniques and tools that his fellow surgeons can use to better their level of care.
