Dr. Shapiro is a nationally renowned, board-certified plastic surgeon who has been practicing in Phoenix, Arizona since 1992. He's won numerous awards for his excellent standards of care and innovative techniques over the years. In 2022, he was picked as one of Newsweek’s Top 100 Plastic Surgeons. That was out of 2,000 candidates in the running. He also won Top Doc Plastic Surgery in Phoenix Magazine in 2011 and 2012. He was named "Best Plastic Surgeon" by Scottsdale Magazine, and "Best Cosmetic Surgeon" at the Phoenician Awards, and he was recognized as giving the "Best Facelift" by Scottsdale Living Magazine.

In addition to Dr. Shapiro's practice in Phoenix, he also acts as the Assistant Professor in Plastic Surgery at the renowned Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. They named him “Teacher of the Year” in 2018, and chose him to be the Director of Aesthetic Surgery Training in their plastic surgery residency program. He also served as the President of the Maricopa Society of Plastic Surgeons. Dr. Shapiro has helped to pioneer many tactics now used widely in the operating room, including Hi-Definition Liposculpture, which he learned after studying under its creator, Dr. Hoyos in Bogotá, Colombia. It’s just one example of the unique techniques and exemplary skill that has made him one of the most sought after plastic surgeons in the United States.

Dr. Daniel Shapiro’s Journey

Dr. Shapiro started out by receiving his undergraduate degree, a Bachelor of Arts, from Occidental College in Los Angeles, California. When he graduated, he moved to Tucson, Arizona where he attended the University of Arizona School of Medicine. He finished medical school in 1984 and was accepted into an Ivy League general surgery internship at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. There he studied under some of the best surgeons in the country, allowing him to hone his interest in surgical procedures into a real artform. It was his education at the University of Virginia combined with his innate talent that gave him a chance at achieving true greatness.

Dr. Shapiro's internship at the University of Virginia lasted for a year. In 1985, he left to enroll in a general surgery residency at the University of Connecticut's Hartford Hospital. He spent 5 years there, treating patients and developing his skills, proving himself every step of the way, allowing him to earn a spot in a prestigious residency and fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Cornell Medical Center's Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. There he put his skills to use finding ways to help those who needed him most, until 1992 when he moved back to Arizona and opened his own practice in Scottsdale.
