Dr. Melissa Doft’s Journey

Dr. Doft’s academic career was characterized by a constant stream of awards and recognition. She graduated from Dartmouth, an Ivy League school, Magna Cum Laude with Rufus Choate Honors. At the New York University School of Medicine, where she earned her medical degree, she graduated with honors in cellular biology, and she was admitted into the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha honor society, where she was also given the Alpha Omega Alpha Award for Highest Cumulative Average over Four Years–a true achievement considering the society’s notoriously low acceptance rate. She also received the Valentine Mott Medal for academic achievement in four separate subjects, and she was the valedictorian. 

During her general surgery residency at the Columbia University campus of New York-Presbyterian Hospital, she was recognized by the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Circle of Excellence for excellence in teaching and humanitarianism. She was also named Chief Resident. She completed her education in plastic surgery in a prestigious combined program at the Cornell and Columbia Universities in the New York-Presbyterian Hospital. While there, she received the Goulian Award for Academic Excellence in Plastic Surgery. She’s since won a vast array of awards for her research in the field, and she’s continued to be recognized for her expertise and her standards of care.
